Simple way to check you are infected by downad.kk a.k.a conficker.c or not:
First, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet by going to a Web site such as Google, Yahoo or Microsoft.
Then if your computer can also successfully go to Web sites of Microsoft and known security companies, such as TrendMicro, Symantec, McAfee, Sophos, Panda, and you can also run Windows Update successfully, then your computer is clear from WORM_DOWNAD a.k.a. Conficker.

Good news is Security experts have made a breakthrough in their five-month battle against the Conficker / downad worm, with the discovery that the malware leaves a fingerprint on infected machines which is easy to detect using a variety of off-the-shelf network scanners.

Sampai sekarang semakin kencang issue virus outbreak yang akan keluar pada 1 April 2009 yaitu WORM_DOWNAD.KK (versi Trend Micro untuk conficker.c).
Yang pasti malware ini berpengaruh paling besar ke Windows NT platform-base (NT, 2000, XP, 2003).
Sedikit informasi teknis tentang WORM_DOWNAD.KK:
Berdasarkan pusat riset Trend Micro WORM_DOWNAD ditenggarai akan mengaktifkan kemampuan downloadnya pada tanggal 1 April 2009 dari setiap sistem yang sudah terinfeksi variant ini.
Malware ini akan generate 50.000 random URL dan melakukan aktifitas resolve dan koneksi ke 500 URL yang di-generate.
Menurut tim riset Trend Micro, saat ini tidak ada bukti yang menunjukkan WORM_DOWNAD.KK akan melakukan perubahan perilaku selain koneksi ke 500 URL dari 50.000 random generated URL.
Namun sangat mungkin pada tanggal 1 April 2009 malware ini akan mengaktifkan diri untuk mendownload versi exploit yang lebih baru dengan melakukan koneksi ke domain baru di dalam daftar domain yang sudah terinfeksi.
